The Hammond Clinic Physical Therapy Department holds FREE back screenings on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays of each month at the Family Wellness Center in Munster. Appointments are available from 12:00 Noon till 4:00 p.m. on each of these days. An appointment is required.
There are many different reasons that people experience back pain. During the free screenings you will learn more about your spinal function and your musculoskeletal anatomy that may help you to identify the factors that cause back pain and dysfunction. You will then be able to discuss possible options for pain relief and restoration of function. Back pain can lead to loss of ability to do and and enjoy the activities you need and want to do.

Hammond Clinic Goes 100% Smoke Free
As of January 1, 2008 all Hammond Clinic facilities, including the Specialty Center in Munster, Family Wellness Center in Munster and our St. John Clinic are 100% smoke free. No smoking is allowed inside or outside of the facilities.
The health and welfare of our employees and patients drives this important policy change. As the leading healthcare facility in Northwest Indiana for the last 50 years, we feel that this final step in our efforts to eliminate smoking in our facilities is warranted.
We offer smoking cessation classes that are free of charge to the public and our employees and also provide physician consultation to assist in the stop smoking process. Please call 219-836-3600 for further information on our classes and physicians.

Clinic remodels Specialty Center for our second 50 years of service
A major remodeling of the Hammond Clinic’s Specialty Center at 7905 Calumet Avenue began on August 15th. This extreme makeover, designed to improve patient convenience and comfort, will include changes to much of the first floor.
“This construction project represents our commitment to serving our patients and the community for the next 50 years and beyond,” said Beverly DeLao, Hammond Clinic administrator. “Urgent care registration will be more accessible and waiting areas more convenient. Fagen Pharmacy will be larger and offer a new drive through service,” she added.
Work will be completed in five phases over approximately nine months. The first phase will take approximately three months. It will involve the closing of the front entrance with patients temporarily using the Urgent Care entrance located just north of the main doors. Traffic flow and parking around the clinic have been reconfigured for patient safety and to accommodate construction activities.
When completed, the makeover will include improvements to the main entrance, lobby, reception area, waiting area, Disclosure and Disability, Patient Representatives, Urgent Care check-in and waiting area, Laboratory and Fagen Pharmacy.
