Audiology

Audiology Services

The Hammond Clinic Audiology Department was established in 1982 to provide the best hearing health care and amplification devices in a medical setting. The Audiology Department is adjacent to the Department of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat physicians and nurses). Our experienced, caring staff offers two licensed audiologists and a certified occupational hearing conservationist to administer audiological assessments for patients of all ages, including infants to geriatrics. Audiological assessments include comprehensive audiograms, speech audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, and otoacoustic emissions.

In addition to audiological testing, the department renders appointments for hearing aid exam and selection, hearing aid fittings, and counseling. Patients considered hearing aid candidates will meet with our certified, licensed Audiology staff to determine the hearing aid model best suited for their hearing loss and listening needs. Patients will receive a thirty-day trial basis with a hearing aid(s) prior to purchase. In a confusing market of hearing aid technology, we strive to fit our patients with quality instruments with technology options necessary to improve their communication. Our Audiology staff takes pride in the mastery of several excellent hearing aid manufacturers which offer entry level to high end digital circuitry.

We also dispense custom earmolds for hearing aids, swimming, ear protection, and musician earplugs. Hearing aid repairs are also available. A variety of assistive listening devices for the television, telephone and personal communications can be special ordered. Bluetooth technology is also accessible for normal or hearing impaired persons.

Physical Therapy

Faulty posture and movement dysfunction may predispose an individual to musculoskeletal pain and/or neural pathology. Staff members of the Department of Rehab Services identify and correct faulty posture and movement dysfunction to promote optimal health and function. The role of the physical therapist is to restore function, help alleviate pain, and prevent dysfunction. To achieve these goals, the physical therapist, in cooperation with the patient's physician and other members of the health care team, develop a program designed to achieve specific goals given the patient's needs, physical ambition, and abilities. Therapies may include, but are not limited to, hands-on techniques, exercise, modalities, and patient education. The overall goal is to restore normal tissue and joint function, strengthen and mobilize the body, and reduce pain.

The Rehab Services Department has three full-time accredited Physical Therapists and one Physical Therapist Assistant. All have extensive education and clinical training, in various modes of orthopedic, neurological, and manual therapy. Several of the professional staff are also further trained in specialty areas such as Vestibular Rehabilitation, Pelvic Pain, Wounds/Burns, Sports Rehab, Industrial Rehab, and Spine School.

The Rehab Services Department is a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the needs of all our patients. There are private treatment areas, and a large open gym area with the latest therapy equipment for functional training. Our ultimate goal is to give our patients the tools they need to contribute a lifestyle of self-care.

Workers' Compensation Injury Care and Case Management

The physicians and other professional staff in the Occupational Health Services Department are specialists in treating work-related injuries and illnesses. Our comprehensive approach to work-related health care is aimed at providing the highest quality of care to the patient in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Our facility is staged and equipped to provide a full array of occupational health services. Patients can receive nearly all necessary treatment in-house, from initial visit and follow-up care to advanced specialty care. Ancillary services such as x-rays, laboratory, and physical therapy services, available within the Clinic, are ordered only on the basis of clinical needs. The utilization of these in-house resources allows for timely coordination of services and, therefore, better control of the costs associated with the treatment of the patient.

The clinical staff, under the direction of the Medical Director, works together to coordinate and monitor the medical case management to facilitate the early return-to-work of an injured or ill worker. Ongoing verbal and/or written communication is provided to ensure that the employer is aware of all aspects of the patient's care.

The Medical Director encourages and manages the appropriate use of medical facilities and services. Referrals are made only to specialists that agree to treat injuries consistent with the philosophy of the Occupational Health Services Department.

Physical Examinations

Our thirty-year commitment to occupational health has put us in the position to do thousands of occupational physical and medical surveillance exams annually. We provide a wide variety of specialized exams that will assist you in making the right hiring decision and maintaining a healthy workforce.

  • Return to Work Evaluations
  • Disability Evaluations (PPI/IME)

Physicals can be customized to meet the employer's specific needs and may include the following:

  • Breath Alcohol Testing
  • Drug Screening
  • Audiograms
  • Pulmonary Function Studies
  • Radiology Reports

Appointments for physicals are preferred but walk-ins will be accommodated.

Substance Abuse Screening

The Hammond Clinic is a DATIA-accredited collection facility providing specimen collection, chain-of-custody, tracking and reporting of each test for both DOT and Non-DOT employees. All testing is overseen by our Medical Director, who is a certified Medical Review Officer.

We offer baseline, random and "reasonable suspicion" drug and breath alcohol testing. Drug screening can be included in any physical examination or performed separately.

Post-accident drug and alcohol screening are available 365 days a year from 7:00AM to 10:00PM.

In most instances, results are available within 24 hours, ensuring quick and efficient turnaround of all drug and alcohol testing. We also offer an automated drug test for non-DOT employees that provide results in less than one hour.

"Collection Only" services are available for those companies that already have a lab contracted to provide testing services.

Arrangements can also be made for our staff to provide on-site collection and testing services.
